Whirlpool Gold 70 Pint Dehumidifier

Unit worked good for 6 months (5*). Pump stopped working (then defaulted to the removable water tray). Repair facility claims this unit is labelled Whirlpool but "there is NO WAY this was made by Whirlpool". Waiting to hear response from Whirlpool and / or TransGlobal (1*)

I purchased this product in July. It ran well for about a month and did a great job. Then, something broke inside and it stopped working, so I called the service line. It took them a month to come out and look at it, and basically all he did was look at it to find out what part is broken so that he can order another part.... then I get a second service call. So... for one month's worth of use, I've had about two months of waiting and two days spent at home waiting for service technicians. It worked well when it worked, but the quality is terrible and the product support is even worse. Look elsewhere.

So I've now had this unit a full year. It has been on this entire last year and not once have I had an issue with it. I bought a new home, and was advised that for the first couple of years we should have a unit running all the time. So that's what we've done. I originally bought this for the pump feature. I'm a tiny gal and have back issues. Picking up heavy buckets of water isn't really an option for me. Out of the box it was pretty straightforward to use. I found the hose, connected it to the unit and set it up for pump draining into my sump pump. It's still working! The only thing I'm concerned about is the longevity of the hose. I've noticed brown spots here and there on the inside of it. It's a see through hose, and I can tell that the entire hose has turned a light brown hue. It's probably dirt from the air but I'm going to keep an eye on it. Last thing I need is for it to back up and (heaven forbid) break. You can sort of see the brown color of the hose in the picture I provided. The fan does run all the time unless it's on a timer. Mine's not on a timer so I hear it from time to time. When the compressor runs it's louder, I've heard it in my bedroom on the second floor many times. But it's not so bothersome that it'll keep you up all night. The noise doesn't last that long anyway. A minute or two perhaps (probably less) Anyway that's my review for now. Hopefully it lasts another year without any hiccups!"

Worth the expense to keep basement dry. Runs a little loud.
