frustrating when it fails.

The rekey tool came with a piece of plastic on the front of it which prevented me from fully inserting it into the lock and engaging the rekey mechanism, but did not prevent me from removing my key. So somehow the lock forgot both the new and old key, preventing me from unlocking my door altogether. Found a video on YouTube with instructions on how to reset the lock by taking the whole thing apart, getting grease all over my hands, but I managed to do it.
Only after it also failed in my backdoor did I notice that the rekey tool had a piece of plastic preventing it from being fully inserted. Once I removed the plastic, I was able to rekey the back door. To be clear, the plastic looked like it should have been there, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was fairly common.
So if it works, then this is smooth and relatively painless, but if you get manufacturer's defects, then buckle up.
No, I do not recommend this product.
