The quarter turn design allows for quick on and off operation, while the drain feature lets you empty residual water trapped in the pipes. If you are gonna buy some valve you might as well get good ones where the handle is made of steel not plastic. Over the years these ones always last, and still going.

Works well, I prefer the bigger handle ball valve type, but these are much more affordable and relatively easy to turn off. The smaller size means it fits in smaller spaces where a loner single handle might be awkward to turn on or off. I probably wouldn’t use these in an area that might be frequently turned on/off, as I feel frequent use would be harder on the handle than the other type.
