Q: how wide is the shelf when open how many shelves come with i t and are ways to add extensions?

A: The measurements of the 42-3012 is 13.25”D x 12” W x 24.25”H All the towers except for the 42-2058 - 3 Drawer wide measurements are: Depth is13.25” - Width is 12” and the Height varies pending the number of drawers.
