Deceptive Product Packaging

The product reads "Professional Clear Finish" so it's easy to assume you'd get a glass clear finish especially with a water based product. Further down in smaller lettering you'll see "Rich Amber Finish". To me that's very misleading to call it Clear Finish.

Easy to apply verathane

We have applied Varathane on our hardwood floors over the years and this is the first time we have chosen to apply the waterbased version. It was easy to apply, although it did leave some streaks on the wood. Cleanup was simple. It is left to be seen if this is as durable as the oil based versions.

Q: How long before the Varathane clear finish Gloss water-based will turn amber? It doesn't match my hardwood floors after several applications. I only used it on one part of my floor.

Q: Can a oil based Clear Finish (1100 Satin) Varathane be applied over a water based Clear Finish Satin Varathane?

A: If the waterbased finish in question is three months old, or older, it can be cleaned, and lightly sanded before topcoating with an oil based finish like the 1100 satin.
