Runs but not very well

Decided to ignore the negative reviews and give this blower the “good old college try”… I find it easy to start provided you follow the instructions and it blows pretty good. I have no intentions of using it as a vacuum so the plastic blade doesn’t bother me much. The oil reservoir is a little hard to read. You need to fill the engine until it reaches the filler threads. Problem is the crank-case air locks and appears full when it’s not. You need to tip the engine back to let out the air. Problem there is you can overfill (ask me how I know) which will cause oil to come out of the air breather and make a mess. The real issue I have is the engine seems to bog down if you’re quick on the throttle. I need to gradually open it up to full speed. Not sure why these machines are so troublesome but they really do have their issues.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We do take our customers' opinions very seriously and the feedback we receive helps us build better products. The throttle description sounds like a fuel/carburetor situation. Consider using TruFuel Engineered Fuel for Small 4-Cycle Engines Canadian Tire item #060-1560-6, or fresh ethanol-free high octane gasoline with a quality fuel stabilizer for reliable starts and best performance.

Blower-Vacuum

Lots of blowing power! Vacuum suction is perfect. Not too strong that it sucks up large stuff to avoiding plugging. Only downside is the plastic screw heads that lock tubes into place.

We're concerned to hear about your experience with this premium blower/vac Joanne. The blower tubes, vacuum tubes and collector bag are all designed with locking mechanisms to hold them securely in place. The twist-n-lock steps should be simple but can require some torque. Please reach out to our Canadian Consumer Resource centre at 1-800-668-1238 if we can assist with assembly or operation advice.

Cracked block - don’t buy

Has never run well. Just started it today and the block cracked right in half after it only turned over 2-3 times. Door stop. Garbage.

  • A: My answer would be no. It doesnt have very much power. You might want to use a sweeper to move the gravel.

Q: What is the insdie diameter of the intake? Will this product chew up twigs?

2 Answers
  • A: The vacuum intake is 3" in diameter and the high impact impellor/fan should chew up leaves, stems and small twigs to manageable mulch. Larger branches should be tackled with a chipper / shredder such as the Canadian Tire YardMachines Gas Chipper/Shredder (60-3821).

Q: What fuel is best for Troy-bilt or other 4 cycle leaf blowers

1 Answer
  • A: Use a quality fuel with no ethanol such as Canadian Tire’s 91 Octane for optimum performance in all four cycle engine applications. The addition of a premium fuel treatment such as Star Tron item #60-7567-6 will further protect your equipment during operation and off-season storage.

Q: Will this work with the Yardworks Leaf Collection System I LOVE the Yardworks Leaf Collection System & I don't want to lose that by going with a Troy-Bilt!

1 Answer
  • A: The Yardworks Leaf Collection System was designed to connect to a different product. The discharge tube of this premium Troy-Bilt leaf blower is 3" round in diameter. You will need to adapt the collar of the leaf collector to this tube. The four-cycle engine (no mixing of gas and oil required), exceptional airflow and high impact impellor will do a teriffic leaf clean-up job.

  • A: This Blower/Vac is shipped with a 3.04 fluid oz (90 ml) bottle of SAE30 oil. When performing an oil change use similar type such as Troy-Bilt engine oil (Canadian Tire product number 28-1704) or Motomaster 4-cycle engine oil (Canadian Tire product number 28-1720).
