1 WEEK, SO FAR SO GOOD

The machine says TOSHIBA but it is made by MIDEA, a Chinese company. Our 4 previous microwaves were made by another Chinese company, GALANZ although they were labeled PANASONIC and DANBY. There is a small mental adjustment necessary to switch from GALANZ to MIDEA. With GALANZ, if you want 20 seconds, you press 2,0,start, whereas with MIDEA, press "cook time",2,0,start. One extra button. However with MIDEA, if you want 1 through 6 minutes, all you do is press 1 or 2 or 3...6 and it starts instantly with only one button pressed. You can also add 30 seconds to any cook time by simply pressing the "+30Sec." button. You can also press this button an infinite number of times to keep adding multiple 30 seconds. Both brands have plus and minuses in this area but overall the MIDEA machine is more convenient to operate. We will not be buying another GALANZ machine as they all had short lives of 1month, 2 months, 1 year and 3 years. My first Quasar microwave purchased in 1981 was still working 15 years later when I sold it. So far we are happy with this machine but we only have a week of use so far. I only gave it 4 stars for one small reason. The stainless steel band at the bottom of the door and "open" button has to be continually washed to look good as it shows finger prints terribly. One other small adjustment is the "open" button. Although it is a large button, you have to press it only on the left side as it is hinged on the right side (a minor detail). I see comments of people complaining about the inability to key in individual time, but they haven't read the manual. As above, I described how you can do this. Also other complain about having to press the door unlock button every time they want to open the door. Again, they haven't read the manual. That feature is easily disabled. So far so good.
