Don't Waste Your Time

I purchased this unit recently, within a week I noticed a few problems i.e frozen several times, voice command doesn't respond some times, GPS go silent etc. I exchanged with new one and that used for a day but voice command was not responding at all. exchanged again and 3rd unit worked good for less than 5 minutes and frozen. Finally I returned... waste of time, don't buy. consider going with a simple GPS is better choice as these Bluetooth and voice command GPS create conflict when GPS guide you road instructions.

After researching this product on-line and reading all the reviews I decided to purchase this GPS. I'm glad I did and I would recommend it to a friend. I really like the Bluetooth capability and now I have a hands free phone as well as a GPS. I did purchase it on sale. The battery only lasts about 90 minutes. Keep your charger in your car. This is the reason I gave it a 4 star as opposed to a 5 star.

Bad from the box

Turned the device on and I was confused right away. Had to use the speech recognition, to which I guess I must not speak proper English because it couldn't understand me properly. After the third time trying to pronounce the address (and I do speak proper English) it froze. Couldn't hit cancel or do anything other than shut it off. When I turned it back on it stayed frozen on the start up screen, my husband had already started to pack up the cords back in the box for return. It did not go past the start up. I am thinking that it froze on some anti theft type of thing, but not a good sign when we didn't even get to use it. I will be going back to Garmin again.

I purchased this TomTom on sale last year, and have since used it in both the States as well as in Canada. Pros: - good fit and finish. - Very nice touch with how they mounted the suction cup right onto the body of the unit via a ball joint = one less fixture to deal with vs. other units that have a separate bracket to bring along with you. - Directions are correct 95% of the time, which is 50% better than my old Garmin! Yes yes, I know it's subjective. - TomTom's online map updating service also keeps things as precise as the user community dictates and as global maps get updated. And as long as you enter your promo code, maps are FREE for the life of the unit. Better than spending $70-120 for annual updates eslewhere Cons: - Poor battery life; makes sure you always bring the charging cord with you - Slow data transfer times when loading new maps
