Ne pas acheter, terrible!

C'est littéralement le pire outil de cuisine que j'ai jamais utilisé. Les cônes ne tiennent pas bien dans la machine et les légumes restent toujours coincés. Je déconseille très fortement l'achat.

Really dull cutters

I bought this 2 months ago. It does an okay job on shredding hard cheeses, raw potatoes and carrots but macerates softer veggies like celery and onion. The slicer had the same shortcoming. I spent a couple of hours with a diamond file and a Dremel tool with sharpening stone, trying to sharpen the slicer and shredder, without success.
The storage of the cutters was great and the ease of use was excellent, but the poor quality of the cutters make this something only suited for use with very firm/hard ingredients. I've given up on this and have ordered the Moulinex version.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Will this unit do a good job on grating/shredding cabbage for cole slaw.

A: Not as it is sold. The blade edges are punched with no milling to create a sharp cutting edge. It doesn't cut or grate anything well at all. I spent two hours sharpening each cone. now it works perfect. Carrots and celery will feed and get chopped without me pushing on them.

A: The Fresh Express Food processor from Canadian Tire is equiped with the following cones; a coarse shedding cone, an extra fine grating cone, a thin slicing cone, and a crinkle cut slicing cone. There is no julienne dicing cone sold with this model, which would be used for creating french fries.

Q: Carrots yes, beets no? Just wondered why it seems that it's ok to shred carrots, but not beets. I want to make cole slaw, which requires both, and would prefer not to have to shred my beets by hand (I haven't tried it, just in case...)

A: The Fresh express manual indicates by chart the recommended cone to use for best results. It is recommended that you use the slicing cone for beets. However, carrots and beets are of similar density and water content and therefore you could shred beets with the same cone that you would use for carrots.
