not enough current handling

I was initially please with this unit when I hooked it up to my quad. It's simple to wire and use. The handle bar mounted switch is convenient. However, the relays mounted inside of the unit are not rated to handle the current required to operate my winch. The wires could also be a heavier gauge.
No, I do not recommend this product.

I did buy this product and try it out .. and I had a winch from princess auto and the control is sucks .. but this kit is awesome because it give more lots more power to the winch it self and wow what a big different that is .. I think this product should continue to all Canadian tire because it much better price then other store .. I love it

I have a snowblower on my garden tractor that came with an electric power winch.
The winch stopped working in the down position right in the middle of a snowstorm.
I call around looking for the ATV solenoid, most had no stock, others that had it in stock wanted
$ 100.00 to $ 125.00 plus dollars, cause they know you are in a jam. Supply and demand. I
went to CTC, they saved my life with this product, that I did not know they even carried, neither did the employee. bought right away ,installed in less that 1 hour ,it worked great ,& I am back blowing snow. Thanks

Some Info Is Missing from Description

What they fail to mention in the description of this product is that it is specifically designed for the LT2000 winch. I know it mentions the LT2000 instruction manual which I didn't realize was a winch model. The ad gives the impression that this will work with all winches, and it actually would, just for how long.?
The LT2000 is rated at 100 Amps. If you have a different winch, such as a Superwinch X1 which is rated at 250 Amps, you will eventually burn the relays out on this switch.
Now I have to return this thing.
No, I do not recommend this product.

This is a great price for a low-current rocker switch upgrade for your winch. By using a low current solenoid system, your switch will last a lot longer. Normally these kits are double this price, the solenoid alone is over $75 at competitors.

Q: Is there an online owners manual for this? I live in a remote community and purchased this upgrade kit at a Canadian Tire store while on a trip by plane. When I opened the package after returning home there is no installation instructions.

A: I am not sure about the manual online but there are lots of informative youtube videos showing how to properly use a snatch block with your winch.

Q: Which winches can this be used for? The package says explicitly that it is for the LT2000 winch. It says it requires the LT2000 circuit breaker. Is it true that this can ONLY be used on the LT2000? Or can it be used with all the "normal" ATV winches?

A: The circuit breaker is a standard 50 amp breaker that you can buy for around $4. It is designed for the LT2000 which has a full draw current load of 100 amps. If your winch has the same rating then this switch will work. If your winch is rated higher you will eventually burn out the relays.

A: Not sure what came with the original winch but this switch has everthhig you need to hook it up from the battery to the winch. So I would say the answer to your question is - Yes.

A: The Superwinch LT2000 P/N 1220210 is a very basic utility winch. The Superwinch Upgrade Kit P/N 2302001 includes a roller fairlead, a mount bracket for the roller fairlead, a bow shackle and a pulley block. The Superwinch Upgrade Kit P/N 230200 contains a handle bar mounted rocker switch and relay control box; this kit allows the LT2000 to be used on an ATV. The components of these two upgrade kits enhance the use of the winch on an ATV and the use of additional winch accessories.

A: The Superwinch ATV switch Upgrade Kit P/N 2320200 (CTC P/N 040-5947) will only work on the Superwinch LT2000 Utility Winch P/N 1220210 (CTC P/N 040-5943).
