lock mechanism is so unreliable. i've always had to spend several minutes getting the bar to align with the U so it may lock. the lock mechanism insides rattles while riding and nothing can be done about it.

Thankfully the only really time i use the lock is when im biking up a moutian and need to lock it up to get to the top of the moutian casue the rest of the trial is not for bikes :P, soo it works well for that, but i had one scare cause i hiked mt finlayson and had locked the bike up, but when i came back down, their seemd to be a problem with getting the ky into the lock as their was a metal part infront of the lock hole that had not lined upo with the opening, but i got that fixed pretty fast, soo besides that it has not failed me yet :)

Absolute Piece of Junk

This doesn't even deserve 1 star. I wouldn't even recommend this to an enemy! I emailed the manufacturer all the details of how the lock had let me down. I cc'd Canadian Tire. The manufacturer asked me to send them a picture and any other confirming details and offered a full refund. Canadian Tire sent me a $50 gift card. I took the darned thing back to Canadian Tire after purchasing another lock (actually a cable, then an additional shank lock) NOT from CT, and received my full refund from them with a smile.

Q: How does the mount work? The instructions I got in the kit were for a different type of lock. I don't see how the lock can fit on without it swinging to the left or right while I ride. I'd rather not have to carry it.

A: I've had this lock for a year and a half, and I've never gotten the mount to work well at all. The lock wobbles all over the place, so eventually I stopped using the mount and just attached it to the rear carrier with a bungee cord. But really, that's less of an issue than the fact that it's not very well made in general. You'd probably do better with a different one.

Q: Are extra keys available? If I still have the lock, but can't find my keys, is it possible to get replacements... or do I have to buy another lock?
