Good bike for the price

Good bike and great price! Seat is quite hard and switching gears a little clunky at times. Overall, I really can't complain when the price was so reasonable. :)

Questions

Q: How comfortqabel is the seat? My wife wants a saddle-type seat that is very comfortable.

4 Answers
  • A: The original seat is not really that comfortable. This holds true for most bikes sold off the shelf. I would suggest getting the supercycle or the schwinn pillowtop. Both models are carried by Canadian tire. These seats may seem originally pricey but they are definitely better than just getting a padded gel seat cover that goes on top of the original seat. A seat cover will not fix fitment issues. You should have a good seat that you are comfortable sitting on before getting a gel seat cover.

Q: How much does this bike weigh?

4 Answers
  • A: Because this bike is cheaper than most others, it's going to weigh more. I would say around 40 lbs. if you want something 5-10 lbs (in which is almost impossible for a bike, because I work on them all the time), prepare to spend thousands. I spent 300 on a road bike from CT and it still weighs about 25-30 lbs. You won't get much for 100.

Q: Can the handlebar on this bike be adjusted? Can i change its height?

2 Answers
  • A: I had this problem too. the handlebars are too low for the height of the bike. I took the stem out and put hard plastic spacers at the bottom. Because I added fenders, I capped off the screw hole at the bottom to prevent the spacer from falling through. You can also just put a screw to keep the spacer stable. It worked for me.

Q: Will this pull a bike trailer ok? I don't plan on going off roading or anything, just easy trips down paved trails. Will this bike handle pulling my kids behind me? Thanks.

  • A: I would think it would pull a bike trailer. Good Luck!

Q: Going to be 14 in about a month and i was interested in buying a bike, im about 5'4 and weigh 112. Would this bike be a good choice!?!

  • A: It all depends on what your intended application is. If you just want casual biking, street and occasional trail then this should work. If you want a more "sporty" mountain bike then look at a different model. A friend of mine who's 5'2 and probably weighs the same as you did not have any problems with the bike. Since this is a women's bike, the frame is an easy stepover design. You may want to raise the seat a little bit. A solid frame non-suspension bike could be a little harsh to ride even on light terrain, so you may want to invest on a better seat. The schwinn pillowtop (carried by Canadian tire) is a very good seat that works for a girl. It is a little pricey but once properly adjusted, there is simply no comparison with the original seat
