Tricky

Changing blades is difficult. Inside the knife there are 3 unpainted metal pieces. One large one that the blade rests on, and two wedge shaped ones that fit inside a cutout on the large one. If you try to use both wedge shaped inserts at the same time, the knife won't close. What you are supposed to do it use the one wedge most appropriate for the blade you are installing. One wedge is for common blades with at least 1 notch at the top. The other wedge is for less-common blades with a large in the center instead. The unused wedge can be stored in the handle, under the blade, pressed between two support rails. Hope this helps everyone that was struggling.

Horrible Revision to a great Knife.

Someone thought it was a good idea to change the part of the tool that holds onto the blade, now you cannot use standard Stanley blades, you need to have one with a center hole. Where do I even find replacements? I have two knives, 1 that takes standard blades and 1 that does not. They both have the same part number....FAIL

No, I do not recommend this product.

A Good Knife

I chose this utility knife as it appeared the most durable in the store I bought it in. It was the only one with a metal handle. When I opened it up to set up a blade, the insides fell apart (on account of the spring which cause the auto retraction) With less than stellar diagrams showing the inside of the blade it took me a while to have all the pieces oriented properly to get to the point where I could close it up and use it. Since this first incident, I have not had a repeat issue so it appears that the knife is perhaps not assembled properly in the factory. The safety feature is very good, but it does limit where you can place you thumb, probably on purpose...

Yes, I recommend this product.
