well the rack is correct , but the straps included are scrap ! very hard to fit, one strap become with a loop so it is impossible to enter in the fitting. buy another set of straps and you will be correct.

So Easy!

So I ended up buying the last one last night as I was a little scared to use the cheaper one I had bought a year ago. I was a little worried, as the compatibility reference on here said it wouldn't work for my vehicle, but hey! I live dangerously (on occasion)! I can not tell you how easy this is to install. It might have taken ten minutes. And loading it up? So easy. I am relieved to know that now I can go kayaking or even take my kayak with me when I move. I definitely recommend spending the extra money to get a kayak car rack like this and save yourself the worry.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Stacker

This item is not bad. If you plan to buy one of these items, ensure that two tie down straps are included in the box. The first one I look at were missing the straps and I asked about the other box and it came with straps. I found that extra tie down straps (Rachet straps) came in very handy to secure the kayaks together. It gives a better sense of security while driving. Overall, it is not a bad product. It was easy to put onto the roof racks but getting the kayaks up onto the rack(s) was the harder part.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: hi there is this rack suitable for a canoe

  • A: It's been a while since you asked this question, but it should hold a canoe with no problem. You would have to carry it on its side though, not upside down as you would normally transport a canoe on your roof.

Q: Will this stacker work with any square crossbars or only Sportrack crossbars?

  • A: Yes, this J-stacker will work with most roof rack system: SportRack Roof Rack Systems, square, round and most factory racks. The only rack systems that may be a difficult fit would be wide aerodynamic roof bars.

Q: Can you use more than one of these racks side by side on an average size minivan/SUV roof rack? So that you can carry more than two Kayaks at a time? 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan trying to carry three Pelican sit on top Kayaks.

  • A: Regrettably, we cannot comment on fitting kayaks as the depth of a kayak can vary widely across different hull shapes. However, if we assume an average plastic kayak is 16” in depth, four will not fit on a 50” crossbar system. What we can say is that it is physically possible to mount two side stacker systems of a roof rack and that a roof rack system is typically 50” wide with a capacity of 100-lbs on most vehicles. If your kayaks will fit within these parameters, then it may be possible to set up this configuration.

Q: Ropes for front and back required? Are ropes or straps from the front/back of the kayaks to the front/back of the car (sedan (2006 Honda Accord 4-door) required or recommended? And does Canadian Tire sell those if so? Thanks in advance.

  • A: The Kayak Side Stacker does not includes those straps. You can tie it town with any ratcheting strap at the Canadian Tire store. If you are talking about the J-Stacker Kayak Carrier, this one includes the front and back straps. And yes you are obliged to tie town the kayak front and back of the vehicle.
