Swaying System

Poorly designed inground system. Lots of work and lots of concrete just for it to sway and move when the ball hits it. Very disappointed.

Terrible to install

In Canada to get below frost line we had to go 4 feet down, so with the 2 foot diameter hole, we required 25 x 30kg bags of concrete per hole (and a special sonotube not sold at local hardware stores)! Had to rent a small skid steer with a backhoe because 2 foot diameter is too large for an auger. Like others, the bottom post was too big to fit into the upper post so we ended up putting one end of the pole against a maple tree and used a skid steer to drive them together. Re-seating the post was also problematic because the sleeve was too small for it to fit after concrete had set. If you factor in cost of sonotubes, concrete, and skid steer rental, it was an additional $1000 (we installed 2 nets). What a ridiculous experience!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Horrendously designed for installation

It may end up being a fantastic basketball net in the end, but the process of installation was the absolute worst experience. There are two posts that are meant to connect, but the bottom post was too big to fit into the upper post. The bolt/washer/nut assembly requires perfect alignment and also indefinite patience. The post has a sleeve that goes into the concrete footing that you poured, but the sleeve is too small for it to fit. I could go on and on. Don't waste your time - either hire someone to install it for you or don't buy it altogether.

Great net

The set up was slightly difficult because the instructions weren’t entirely clear. But otherwise I’m very happy with it

Misleading

System seems okay, it is to bad that Canadian Tire ad shows one with a moveable base, so if your not reading very closely you get a surprise when you open the box and it has no base

Q: I’m having a very hard time fitting the poles in together. I’ve been bouncing the top pole over the bottom pole, but it seems to have stopped after dropping a few inches. I can’t seem to get it to drop any further. Any suggestions?

  • A: Our poles are a friction-fit weld which means only impact vibrations shift the poles together and apart when inserted and you cannot simply slide them together or pull them apart with force. If you notice the first steps of the manual it mentions “bouncing” the poles onto a block of wood - this means holding the sections about a foot off the piece of wood vertically and letting the sections fall or drop and hit the wood without force applied. Doing this will cause the poles to spring back up and vibrate into place a small fraction, continue to do this until you are able to achieve the desired overlap. You can sand the paint finish off the inside and outside and try using a thin piece of plywood or OSB instead of the traditional 2X4 etc., the poles will shift together a lot quicker since the impact is more direct than a 2X4 acting as a cushion almost.

Q: What is the model number of this basketball net system? I need it for the warranty as the backboard broke. There is no model number on the instructions - it said the model # is on the box but we don't have the box anymore.
