I received this for a Christmas gift a few years ago and it was cool! The pop itself doesn't taste super strong but it was fun to make and I love all the different flavours it comes in now!

Best purchase I have ever made. I love not having to deal with lugging bottles home, store extra pop, or dealing with all the recycling.

No more stock pilling pop for the summer or for parties. I can now make pop on the fly. How much I want when I want it. Most flavours are dead on to there brand name counter parts.

We just go ours and love it! I'm not a fan of the soda syrups, but the "Free" ones are great. Fruity and not too sweet.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Can I use other bottles or glasses? I have a stainless steel water bottle and a few plastic ones ... can i use them with this? Can I just make it in my drinking glass when i want a sparkler or do i have to make a full bottle?

    • A: When carbonating water in a SodaStream machine, you must use the specialized SodaStream carbonating bottles. These carbonating bottles are made to screw in to the machine and are made from reinforced plastic needed to withstand the pressure of the CO2. SodaStream carbonating bottles also have a hermetic seal in the cap, which holds the carbonation for up to 2 weeks! Once you have carbonated the water, you are free to pour it into any container or glass that you wish. Thank you for your question and Set the Bubbles Free!

Q: I have SodaStream canisters. Can I exchange empty ones for full ones at Canadian Tire even though I didn't purchase them there?

    • A: Yes! You can. You can take your empty CO2 canisters,no matter where they were purchased, to cashiers at Canadian Tire stores and you will receive a full one at a discounted price. Thank you for your question and Set the Bubbles Free!

Q: Can you use juice with this machine or only the syrups?

    • A: SodaStream recommends only carbonating water with the SodaStream machines. Carbonating other liquids will compromise the mechanics of the machine - potentially harming the machine. Once the water is carbonated, you can add any syrups or juice concentrates to it! Thank you for your question and Set the Bubbles Free!

Q: I wanted to make a sparkling wine, would this explode since it is not just water?

    • A: The instructions are very firm about only using unflavored water (you add the flavor after) and since the chemical make up of wine is different then water, I wouldn't chance it. I make my water crazy bubbly and often add it to whatever other thing I'm drinking-orange juice becomes spritzer like, maybe you could just add the sparkling water to your wine. It would dilute it but then your wine would last longer!

Q: How close does it taste to real coke on a scale of 1 - 10?

    • A: One of the benefits of the SodaStream home carbonated beverage maker is that each drink is fully customizable. As the beverage maker, you can control how much carbonation and how much syrup you put in to the water - essentially creating your own version of cola! Give it a try! Set the Bubbles Free!

Q: If you like plain carbonated water does it compare to the popular French and Italian products? Does it take similar to " Perrier"? Imam not a fan of syrups and such.

    4 Answers
    • A: Yes yes yes! This is why I bought ours - Perrier was getting way too expensive (not to mention all the bottles in the recycling). It works best with Brita filtered water (but not reverse osmosis water - does not hold the bubbles at all) and if you use water that is as fridge cold as possible.

Q: Length of life of carbonated bottle and purchase cost. If the carbonated bottle does not last forever and has an expiration date, where do you purchase and what is the cost to replace it.

    • A: I have only had my machine for 3 weeks but I make at least 2 bottles a day and it's still going strong. Each cartridge makes 60 liters so it depends on how many bottles you make a day. You can buy the replacement cartridges at Canadian tire, but bring in the empty one or there is an extra charge I believe-I suspect it is some kind of environmental thing. You can see the current price of the cartridges on the Canadian tire web site
