Q: Will this product damage/etch metal? Will the citric acid mix be safe if it contacts metal directly and/or will the vapors damage metal (ie. furnace, pipes) due to the lack of ventilation?

1 Answer

A: Rust-Oleum’s citric acid etch would not harm metal, or cause it to breakdown, however, because the etch is diluted in water, any bare metal exposed to it could flash-rust when exposed. It would not flash-rust because of the etch, but because of the water the etch is dissolved into.
