Does the job, easy to use - be SURE to ventilate well

I’d have given this a 5 except for the powerful smell of the product - I really needed this to work and it did - using this was as simple as the instructions describe and worked perfectly to ‘un-slip’ my interior oak stairs that had just been polyurethaned. My old dog can now come down the stairs without slipping and falling as she was before. For my purposes one light coat did the trick and you have to touch the stair tread to know that something has been applied - it’s almost invisible. I also think it will be relatively easy to sand and re-urethane in future if I want to remove and go back to the stairs as they were. It says to use in a well ventilated area - not that easy to do for interior steps but I would isolate the space where you’re spraying, open windows set up a fan and use a respirator if you have one or at least a high quality mask. The good thing is it doesn’t take long at all to shake then spray in even sweeping motions and get the heck out.

Does what it should - worth the money

I built a slightly sloped wooden ramp as part of an outdoor pathway and was concerned that it would be very slippery when wet, as the older version I replaced had been. This product worked perfectly, it did not change the appearance of the wood but provided good traction so I am not worried about family or guests slipping.

Q: Can this be applied to exterior pressure treated wood steps

3 Answers
  • A: Hi Sandy, Our Epoxyshield Anti-Slip Slip-Resistant Coating can be applied to exterior pressure treated wood. However, the wood needs to off gas and cure for at least a year in order for the coating to adhere properly.

Q: Can this be used on Bath tubs? If yes, are any other products required to prepare the surface? Will it dis-colour the tub? How often does it have to be reapplied?

3 Answers
  • A: Thank you for reaching out! We don't recommend applying Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Anti-Slip Spray on a bathtub because the coating will not hold up to the water immersion and high level of moisture. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

Q: Can this work well on exterior unpainted/unstained new pressure treated wood steps

  • A: I have used it on a set of wooden stairs in my garage. The steps were pretreated so I can not comment on an exterior / unpainted surface. Sorry. Perhaps the question could be sent directly to Rust-Oleum.
