Unlike traditional seed-starting potting soil, the kit includes 50 sponge-like peat moss-based plugs that won't crumble. One good, one bad

I bought two of these trays. One is doing well.. the other had mold or mycellium on top of every puck upon opening, and not one seed has germinated in that tray.

not great

It seemed very dry and when I soaked it up it doesn't absorb the water quickly. Seeds haven't sprouted yet after 10 days, so keeping fingers crossed. I'll go back to the usual seed starter brand that I buy.

They work

2 years ago

Packages are all ripped open and 3 of 50 plugs were too crisp to use. They Ph neutral, not Ph balanced. Soaked for 24h in distilled water Ph at 5.4 to rinse out anything. Soaked for an hour in my nutrient solution before inserting seedling and a myco powder. Saturated weight is 20 grams, the roots will form as is dries back to about 12 grams or less. So gently misting about 2 grams of solution on the outside of the plugs every day or so until weight reached 12 grams. Then slowly re-saturate until transplant.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Two stars because I can rinse at a Ph of 5.4 and reset the content. Soaked in 40 ml Distilled water and Ph is 7 with Total dissolved solids in PPM at 23
