Good Rod Poor Reel

As the title says: The reel is not reliable at all!! The most notable problem is the poor drag system. I found it hard to do any fine adjustments to the drag tension, it always seemed either too loose or too tight. When reeling in a fish (or even just weeds) it felt like it was slipping even if I had the tightest drag possible. The reel would often stop reeling in while I was cranking the handle. Even with the drag set very tight the bale would not turn no matter how many times I turned the handle. This would "fix" itself after the drag was tightened and loosened several times. It seemed to blacklash very often as if the brake system was not working and I found I had to do more thumb work than normal while casting. During the few times the reel worked fine it still didn't feel strong or comfortable in my hand. I replaced the reel with a Abu Garcia Black Max but I am still using this Rhino rod. The rod has held together well during some pretty big fights and shows no signs of wear after all that I have put it through.
