Money saver.

This adaptor was a real money saver. I have a dual outlet assembly on my SUV. The ground pin on the four way fell off as I tried to clean off the corrosion on it. The dealer quoted a high price to replace the whole assembly. Lucky for me I found this adaptor. I plugged it into the 7 Way plug on my SUV and the four way plug from my trailer fit just right into the 4 way pins. All worked well even over rough country roads. The connections all functioned as they should.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 2 of 2 Questions

Q: Does this work both ways? I have just brought a new truck and the tow package came with a four flat. My old truck had a 7 round and my pop up camper is a 7 plug, will this work for that? And will it also charge the battery on the camper?

  • A: The 4 wires on your truck are gnd, running lights, left brake/signal, right brake/signal. The 7 pin on your trailer adds a brake, charging, and backup/aux. So, if your trailer has a battery to charge or trailer brakes then you need to get your truck rewired. If not, then 4 wires will suffice, but I don't think there are such converters, so you'd have to make your own from parts. However, since your trailer has a 7 pin, and you specifically mention the battery, then you will just have to get your truck rewired.

Q: How does this connect to the vehicle's connector? Does this replace it or click onto the vehicle connector making three connections? (vehicle wiring to vehicle connector, this connector onto vehicle connector and trailer connector into this flat connector

  • A: You connect the trailer’s wiring into the wiring adapter, then you connect the wiring adapter into the towing vehicle. I have attached a screenshot in case you need further clarification.
