RED TEK 12a Extreme Cooling Recharge Kit is designed for consumers looking for a quick, on the go recharge kit to provide maximum cooling performance. RED TEK 12a is an environmentally friendly, cost effective, hydrocarbon refrigerant that is 100% natural organic, non-ozone depleting and non-global warming. RED TEK 12a is a DIY alternative refrigerant that is formulated exclusively for use in vehicles originally equipped with R134a and R-12 refrigerant. RED TEK 12a Extreme Cooling Recharge Kit comes pre-assembled, ready to use. Simply connect to the vehicles low side service port, remove the safety collar, and turn the control knob to open the self-sealing can valve.

Q: Does the coupler fit both R12 and R134A?
6 months agoA: An R12 system does not originally have a quick connect on the vehicle. You will need to purchase and install RED TEK Low Side Adapter, CTC#014-6124-8 (RED TEK #503), to the vehicle and then the quick connect on the installation hose will connect to the adapter to allow the system to be recharged.

a year agoA: Once the can is emptied it can be recycled in accordance with local regulations. The hose can be kept and reused if required.

5 years agoA: We do not currently offer the can with the self sealing valve, but the hose that comes with the RedTek 12A 9oz kit does work on the smaller 6oz cans, but a little differently from the original hose. You will still attach the hose to the can the normal way and turn the control knob clockwise until it stops turning so that you pierce the can top. Once the can is pierced, you then turn the control knob counter clockwise approximately a ¼ turn to allow the flow of refrigerant out the installation hose/coupler. Once you achieve the appropriate pressure in the system, as indicated on the gauge, you will turn the control knob clockwise again to insert the hose tap into the can to plug the pierced hole back up (to prevent leakage). Once the can is plugged, you can disconnect the hose from the low side port. While we don’t currently offer the can with the self sealing valve, we update our assortment regularly and this may be offered in the future.
