Excellent for Max 60Watts continuous use

I've had it now for 5 years. Trouble free, works as supposed to. It's meant for use with 60W maximum for continuous use, occasionally 75W as long as not more than 5 minutes. Keep this in mind and the device is great for any electronics under the wattage mentioned.

Great for the glove box

Ive had this unit for several years and it very conveniently fits in the glove box. It will power cell phones easily and most laptops, however might be underpowered for older style laptops with a higher draw.
Great for the glove box when you need some power in a pinch

I mostly bought this inverter to run a 45 watt portable oscillating fan inside my car. One time when I went camping, I got a 12 Ah SLA battery and connected the battery to the inverter (with fuse protection near the battery of course) four 13 watt CFL bulbs to light up the whole tent at night, and when I had to go out to the woods at night, I put the battery and inverter in a back-pack and carried the lights on me. (I should have taken an old chandelier, hold it up by the chain, and carry it like a giant lantern instead.)
The only thing I don't really like is that when the inverter senses a lower voltage from the battery, it keeps turning on and of constantly, which can damage electronic equipment.
The thing is pretty impressive because the inverter works like magic to me (not to mention that this is the first inverter that I ever had) I can't imagine how the thing could convert DC to AC, without getting a DC motor to drive an alternator (AC generator) but it's always easier to convert the other way around form AC to DC.

Not enough oomph for laptop

Overall, a disappointment.
We purchased one of these on sale at $14.99. At first, it would power my computer, but after only a few months of use, it will no longer run a laptop.
I, my wife, and our daughter-in-law have all tried -- that's three different laptops in two vehicles -- and the inverter will not run or recharge any of them.
We have kept it in the car for charging cell phones, the camera, AA cells for my eTrex GPS, and the like, and it still works for those small items (for now).
But had to buy a 200W unit to run the laptops; it rides in the truck. Noisy, bigger, not nearly as convenient. But for now, at least, it does run and recharge the computer.

excellent for charging cell phone

I originally wanted to use this to charge my laptop in the car but use it mainly to charge my cell phone. It is nice and small and fits neatly in the glove compartment. I use it sometimes in conjunction with other small electrical devices while I am out camping, such as a small portable radio or an air inflator.
Should have gotten at larger, perhaps a 300 watt inverter, but this one fits the bill so far. .

A: I'm not too sure about that, but you can check how many amps it takes to charge. What you could do is take an ammeter, (a digital multimeter rated to measure current up to 10 amps at least) and connect the leads to the fuse socket of the cigarette lighter socket in the car. You simply remove the existing fuse that goes to that socket, and connect the leads of the multimeter to the metal contacts in the fuse holder. Set the dial to the highest current rating, and plug in the inverter, you should get a reading of a small current, then plug in the laptop's charger and see if it reads 6 amps or below. If it reads 6 amps, the charger takes 60 watts, 4 amps 40 watts, 4.5 amps 45 watts, etc... If it reads above 6, then the inverter is too weak.

Q: Would the ME 75w inverter run a hair straightner? Id like to have an outlet, to occasionally use my straightner or curling iron while camping. My straightner reads 125V AC 60hz 45W, would this inverter work? thanks.

A: this is would not work well for a hair straightener. This is rated at 75 watts. A hair straightener would need about 500 watts.

Q: What does the grey switch do? Mine must be defective. Every time I plug it into the cigarette lighter , it immediately blows a 15 amp fuse. I don't even have anything connected to it

A: The grey switch simply pushes the metal contacts on the side out a little bit, so it will fit in slightly bigger cigarette lighters. I would say your fuse-blowing unit is defective, yes.

A: My unit contains an 8A 250V cylindrical fuse. If you want to make sure you can check yours by unscrewing the nub at the end of the part that plugs into the cigarette lighter.

A: This product is not pure sine wave, it’s modified sine wave. However, it can be used for most electronic devices we use daily such as charging laptop and most mobile devices, running tablet etc. It may not be suitable for medical care devices however.
