Solvable website has a tool for choosing solvent.

Picked this up on clearance sale, planning to give as a gift, but then ended-up using it myself. Cute, handy cans have recommended use listed on the labels. Also good for refilling. For removing adhesive patches from metal, I started with an old can of Recochem Acetone I had lying around. For removing adhesive sticker from plastic, I switched to Methyl Hydrate (methanol) from this kit, then continued to use on leftover adhesive residue on the metal. For this specific job, Methyl Hydrate seemed to work better, and had almost no odour. The Acetone had quite a strong odour. Sometimes odour is good, so you know something is potentially toxic. Of the 4, the Lacquer Thinner appears to be the most toxic, since it contains a bit of benzene. Anywhoo, satisfied with this kit. Later discovered the Solvable website (https://solvableworks.com/) has a good tool to choose the best solvent for your job.

The first container I tried to open the cap wouldn’t come off. Second container cap came off as expected. Haven’t yet tried the other 2 cans.

Q: will this product remove dried on pain from door hinges?

A: These products are not paint removers. You would be better off with a product that says Paint remover on it. If any paint remained after that step I would use Methyl Hydrate and a green scrubby to remove it.
