    Good product with many applications

I asked several mechanics and found this is the same stuff they use on both disc brake slider pins and contact points in drum brakes. It works fine for me in both applications. I recommend this for similar uses as well.

Q: Hi I had my brakes done last summer. So my brakes are find but now this change in Season I'm hearing my brakes squealling. Can I place some of this silicone directly on my rotors and hope that the squealling stops! Please let me know thank you

    1 Answer
    • A: Hello, thank you for your question regarding Orange Silicone Ceramic Brake Lubricant. There are several reasons why brakes can be squealing. One of the most common reasons is a high-frequency vibration situated between the contact of the brake pad and the caliper. This vibration is often the cause of brake squeal when the brakes are applied. In order to dampen this vibration, the brake pads need to be removed from the caliper and a thin film of Brake Lubricant applied to the BACK of the brake pads. The brake pads can then be re-seated into the caliper. Applying the lubricant between the contact points of the caliper and the back of the pads usually fixes the brake squeal. Under no circumstances should lubricant ever be applied to the surface of bake rotors or to the front of the brake pads that contact the rotor. Thank you again for your question.

Q: Is there enough to do more than 1 brake job?

    1 Answer
    • A: Thank you for your question on Permatex® Silicone Ceramic Brake Lubricant, 28-mL. The answer depends on how much you personally use, where you apply it and also the size of the brake system. If you are replacing all brake pads on all 4 wheels, lubricating the pins, slides, metal contact points AND coating the backing plate on 8 individual pads, you should still have plenty of product remaining. Depending on your usage, you may have enough for another complete brake job. But it does depend on where and how you use it as well as the size of the brake system. Thank you.
