    Cheap quick gasket replacement fix

Someone gave me a 30+ year old Tanaka small outboard motor. Float type carburetor leaking fuel like crazy. Gaskets/o-rings were dried and cracked. Replacement parts non-existent. Apparently Motoseal is one of the few gasoline resistant gasket makers. Applied and waited 30 mins for it to be tacky, slightly torqued parts together, waited a few hours, completely torqued to specs and then left for over 24 hours. No more fuel leak. Got a nice working outboard motor for a inflatable boat.

    Works great on motorcycles!

Worked great on my motorcycle engine side cover where the electrical cables come out from the stator. No oil leaks. I let it cure for a couple days because I put it on pretty thick.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Equivalent to Yamabond 4

Bought this to use in place of the Yamabond 4 that was specified in the service manual for the YF60S that I was restoring. Seems to work fine. All my research says it is equivalent.

    Questions

    1 - 3 of 3 Questions

Q: Can I use this for lawnmower cylinder head gaseket and carburetor gasket? I assume yes since this is gas resistant?

    2 Answers
    • A: It is fuel resistant but is not a replacement for a head gasket - a head gasket is a heavy material with a metal sealing ring necessary to contain the combustion gases. This won't work for that service. For a carb gasket, I'd recommend buying some gasket material at Canadian Tire and cutting it to fit. You never glue down a carb to the intake manifold.

Q: "Gasoline resistant" Question Hi I plan to use this on a motorcycle petcock to seal the petcock bolts . Will the fuel eat away at this or will be safe using this for a gas tank sealant?

    1 Answer
    • A: Yes, Permatex MotoSeal 1 is resistant to gasoline and can be used to seal this application. It will remain pliable after curing. Alternatively, you can also use Permatex Form-A-Gasket #2 for sealing the bolt threads/holes. This product will also remain flexible when cured and is also resistant to gasoline. Both items are available in Canadian Tire.
