I have used this to cover worn out insulation where the wire was still intact but the insulation was worn away. I have used this on a vacuum cleaner power cord too. No need to splice a functioning wire that only needs its insulation reinforced.

Q: I am thinking to coat 3 exposed wires in a harness, but I would like to be able to reopen the area later to get at the wires if necessary. Can the liquid tape be peeled off several months or more later without damaging the wires?

A: Hello Thomas, thanks for the great question. Permatex Liquid Electrical Tape creates a continuous waterproof seal that prevents corrosion and remains flexible when dry. This electrical tape goes on as a liquid and dries to a vinyl polymer, making it resistant to dirt, dust, chemicals, moisture. As it is a flexible coating, on the actual wiring and depending on where it is applied, you should be able to remove it. If the material you are using it on is porous, it may be more difficult to remove as the product will soak into it, such as fibreglass sheathing on the inside or outside of wiring cables. A: Hello Dylan. Thanks for the great question. Permatex Liquid Electrical Tape is designed to coat and protect wiring and electrical connections. It goes on as a liquid and dries to a vinyl polymer that resists dirt, dust, chemicals, moisture, ensuring that connections stay intact. It would not be suitable for use in repairing the rubber surround (suspension) of a speaker, as it would be under constant vibration and stress due to the diaphragm of the speaker moving. While the Liquid Electrical tape is flexible, it may not be the ideal solution as the product is not designed for this type of repair. As well, we cannot guarantee the product would be compatible with the foam material the suspension is made of. Typically, it is best to replace the foam suspension if it is torn or broken. Q: Approx how long does it take to dry to expose it to weather or put a second coat on?

A: Hello Sc0re, thank you for your inquiry on the Permatex® Liquid Electrical Tape. Regarding time to dry, per the instructions/directions always ensure there is 10 minutes allowed at a minimum in between coats. There is a minimum of 2 coats recommended. Please also allow 4 hours minimum dry time before use. Thank you
