Toasts evenly but you have to reset the settings every time you plug it in, and the instructions say to unplug it after use. Would be more convenient if it remembered the last setting used.

Q: After dialing #4 it doesn’t stay at that number it turns back to 240.

A: Hi, each number on the dial represents a length of time to toast setting. #1 being the shortest time - 2 minutes, and #9 being the longest time - 4 minutes and 40 seconds. The #4 setting is in fact 2 minutes and 40 seconds (2:40) and that is how long the toaster will cook at that particular setting. The toaster is doing what it's supposed to do, and shows the dial setting of 4 will have a cook time of 2 minutes and 40 seconds. When you dial any of the heat numbers from 1 to 9 and press down the lever to start cooking, the toaster will then display the number of minutes it will cook, and the display will count down to zero when cooking is complete. Also, the toaster will keep that heat setting as long as it remains plugged in. If it gets unplugged or loses power it will revert back to a heat setting of #1 which is two minutes (2:00)

Q: How do you orient the bagel when using the bagel function? One side is supposed to be hotter than the other.

A: After you have cut your bagel, place each half in the toaster with the cut sides facing each other. When you press the bagel button the toaster will only toast the cut sides and not the outside top and bottom. You can also use the frozen button option as well.
