      Great essential kitchen cookware

The Paderno cast iron 6.2l casserole/dutch oven is one essential kitchen cookware item that is a must for any kitchen. There are many things to like about the Paderno. 1.) It's large and deep. You can cook just about anything in this dish. 2.) The interior enamel finish is super durable and makes clean up a breeze 3.) The lid contains drip beads which in turn create a self basting effect without ever lifting a finger 4.) This dish is stylish and looks good when its just left on the counter 5.) From my cooking experience the Paderno retains absorbs and retains heat extremely well. 6.) Its extremely versatile and can be used in the oven or on top of an electric, gas, ceramic, halogen or induction stove! Wow! 7.) The lid can be turned 45 degrees for venting any dish. I would recommend the Paderno cast iron casserole dish be an additional to any kitchen and if you don't like having to spend your time scrubbing a dish to get it clean, the Paderno is for you.

A real joy to cook with

The Paderno Dutch Oven is a beautiful piece that is functional and should last generations. Overall I really like it and I'm glad to have it in my collection. The pros: -The casting is thick and heavy and -holds heat well. -The enamel is quite non-stick, and is very easy to clean. -The square shape seemed awkward at first but the corners act like a nice spout when pouring. -The lid has a very interesting texture. The description suggests this is to direct condensation to drip evenly over the food to keep it moist. This feature seems to work really well. -The handle on the lid is a nice polished stainless steal. Often these are plastic on similar items so that's a nice touch. The cons: -The finish has a little bit of egg shell texture to it. Typically the finish is a bit smoother on high end models. -Made in China. The Paderno Dutch Oven seems to be positioned in the market to compete with La Cruset, as such I would expect it to be made somewhere other than China. Overall I really like it and will likely pass it down to my children someday.

      So versatile!

I love all my Paderno cookware. My special favorite is my Dutch oven...from cooking roasts to soups, setting pickles to mixing holiday turkey stuffing, even baking egg custard (12 eggs: 5 cups milk/cream). For the latter, the high sides mean I can skip the boiling water bath. Frying bacon in my Dutch oven, means no stovetop spatter to clean. I especially love that all Paderno pots are easy to clean, and retain no cooking odors...even fish or liver.

All in One Dish from the Oven to the Table!

This is quality cookware. It is perfect for oven to table kind of meals (like the "Coq Au Vin" in the photo). Heat distribution is consistent. The top seals really well to retain heat and moisture but can also be placed at an angle to let off steam. Just remember the handle on the lid is hot!
