Great product. On line reviews helped me select this brand and model. Don’t let the “app” comments scare you. The app downloaded quickly (free) and is easy to use for the set up. Functionality is exactly as the product description and it even works with tap water unlike many others that need distilled water. Very happy.

Blueair Evaporative Top-fill Humidifier

I've used this humidifier for one week now and I am generally satisfied with the performance. The main objective for this purchase was to reduce the dryness in my nose and throat while sleeping without incurring the fine white powdery film that covers everything when using an ultrasonic humidifier. Keeping the unit close to my beside, as recommended in the instructions, has achieved this objective. Having a larger water tank would be preferable but I am able to get through an entire night on just under one full tankful of water. Works great for a small to mid-sized room but not sufficient for a large room.

Q: Can it take hard water?

A: The information booklet supplied with this device does say it can take tap water, but also it needs regular weekly maintenance by soaking the filter in water with a very specific concentration of citric acid to remove mineral deposits. I would then assume that if you have very hard water, it would be easier to maintain this humidifier if you filtered your water before adding it to the tank. I recommend viewing the Youtube video online.
