Plant food response depends upon temperature and moisture. Plants will not respond if it is too cold or if there is insufficient moisture in the soil. Plants under stress from disease, insect activity, or transplant will not show signs of improvement from a fertilizer.

Q: Can I use this on my purple leaf sand cherry shrubs?

A: I think it's fine for all plants as it's an organic all purpose fertilizer. I have used mine for my balcony potted planters for a number of years. You shake the pellets in the dirt above ground then water in. There is a chart on the side that lists the amount for in ground plants as well as potted plants etc.
