[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this mixer constantly! I keep it on my counter and find it so handy that I use it for making the simplest things because it is so fast and convenient. It whips and mixes so quickly, you set it and forget it! I couldn't recommend this machine more. Not sure what I did without one!!

Cheaply made/ Not grandmas mixer!

Don’t buy hand crank lift strips out easy, not much power when making bread dough or more firm recipes. So if you are thinking about trading in your old kitchen aid for a better newer one. We did, now we regret it. 1 year old barely and no one will stand behind it. Only used a handful of times. Very expensive junk!

Bad mixer

Purchased last year and I too have had an issue with the machine just shutting down for no apparent reason. This started to happen a few months back and read it might be because of overheating. Since then, it periodically shuts off each time I use it. It certainly is not because of overheating! It is just barely over a year old and out of limit with the warranty, contacted KitchenAid yesterday and not much help. The offer from them was to return and they would supply a refurbished mixer or I could purchase a return kit to send in mixer for diagnose and repair for $$. I then read some more information online and on these reviews that others have had the same issue with this model - so there are most certainly issues with this model. I suppose I received a 'lemon'. A refurbished mixer for the mixer that is only just over a year old - or pay more money for a repair that is for a very obvious faulty mixer - very disappointed as my previous KitchenAid mixer lasted for 30 years!!

Prices dont match the quality KA had

I purchased this KA KSM55 model with extra power to replace my 35+ yr old KA stand mixer with 325 watts, not that the old machine doesnt work but it is struggling to knead dough finally after all these years. The first irritant of this machine is the lack of workmanship on the outside. Paint spray is sloppy, sharp metal shards I found after scraping my fingers moving the unit; we ended up taking a file to smooth it down, thanks KA. There is no ability to order an actual bowl cover for this model which really irks. KA doesnt make a bowl cover to fit this, so it sits on my counter with a shower cap on. Wonderful. They make covers to fit models K45SS, KSM75, KSM95, KSM150PS, KSM152PS and KSM155GB in case you are in need, you are welcomed. I am attaching the images of the new red mixer against the old one so you can see the lack of quality on an expensive unit like this. This unit is described as being 2 times the power, stable heavy mixing of "over" 7lb of bread. What isnt mentioned in the write up is you can only use level 2 of the mixer for any bread dough, nothing higher. My old one with half the power and 3 decades more age, handled 10 mins of heavy mixing at the speeds needed yet this one has to remain no higher than level 2. That is a pretty long knead at level 2. The paddle, dough hook and whisk are just as good as the old one thankfully. At the same time I bought the more expensive 9 speed hand mixer to replace my 30+ yr old KA and that wobbles w/ vibration. All I can say is thankful I have bought the extended warranties thru my retailer, I have less faith they will last me the same or even at best half life of my other. Next time I will spend a bit more and get a professional grades.
