Massive Hose

The AC unit is functioning fine. The only issue is the Duo hose is massive and isn't really designed to be used with casement windows. A fabric casement window enclosure works but with the massive exhaust hose it leaves a significant opening around the hose as the zipper can't close it tight.

We tried so many A/C units for our bedroom, however they were all very noisy. The Midea is 10X quieter than most on the market and we can sleep cool and well. I enjoy the option to leave it running all night at the same temp to ot have it cycle on and off, which led to lots of noise.

Just got it installed. Looks great, and seems very powerful. The room got chilly FAST, seems like this could handle a lot more than 450 sq ft. It is a little noisy and clanks when it starts up but after maybe 10/15 seconds the only sound is the rushing air. My only real complaint is that the installation instructions are terrible! The images and diagrams are not helpful, no close-ups at all to show you important details like the orientation of the window plate so you know which way is meant to face inwards. The window bracket does not attach to the window slider at all, idk who designed that particular part but they need to be fired. No clip or anything just the tension of jamming one piece of plastic into another, seriously? It's a good thing it's not a critical part of the installation. The part where the vent attaches to the window plate has clips to hold it in place that leave very noticeable air gaps. They give you a ton of foam for insulation and then design the most critical part of the window installation so that it is anything but airtight... All in all the machine seems like it's going to be a great machine especially given the memorial day discount, but they need to work on the window attachment and the instruction manual a bit.

Q: does it have a continuously variable thermostat (same noise level through the night) or does it switch on-off mode with pulsed noise?

- A: The fan and compressor speed are variable (inverter drive). However, the unit will still turn on/off if the minimum speed provides more cooling than is required. To make the noise more constant, you can optionally enable "continuous fan" mode so it will leave the fan running when the compressor turns off, and it's also possible to select a fixed fan speed.2 years agoHelpful?
Q: I am having issues with the thermostat, is anyone else? The thermostat on the unit cools off much faster than the room temp so the unit stops cooling. This is my first portable AC unit, is this typical?

- A: The thermostat built in to the unit can only measure the temperature near the unit, so this sometimes happens. To solve this, you can enable the "comfort sense" feature on the remote - then the temperature will be measured by the remote and transmitted to the air conditioner. Q: foes it turn off and on by itself once the room has reached the desired temperature? I went to sleep with it on and woke up with it off, but I didn’t touch anything.
