wood prone to swelling.

Sink basin vanity arrived a few weeks ago, I installed the vanity in my bathroom replacing an existing small sized cabinet. The cabinet basin I really liked, more typically with a flat surface on top, so water cannot pool and accumulate as much, easy to wipe up. Basin bowl is a little smaller, and with the center mounted faucet not ideal for using the basin filled with water or washing your face. Probably better I bought a faucet which can swivel to the side. However can't expect much from a small vanity cabinet. One issue when installing the cabinet is not built for water lines coming up from the floor, it was designed for hot and cold water piping to come out from the wall. I had to cut out the inside shelf to allow water pipes to come up into the cabinet. Just a tip in case someone wants to get this cabinet.
The only negative thing I can say about the vanity is the cabinet wood is not well sealed from water splashing or sitting on the wood for some time Particle board wood, and the paint has no sealant, so even after a few days, it was noticeable to see the wood swell up. I applied a coat of varathane sealant and this hopefully will protect the wood cabinet, time will tell.

The cabinet itself is made from moisture-resistant MDF (MR-MDF), which performs well in typical bathroom conditions, but like any engineered wood, it’s important to wipe up standing water promptly to prevent swelling. What you experienced is not the result we aim for, and sealing the surface, as you’ve done, can definitely add extra protection.

KANSAS 18" VANITY PURE WHITE
After a lot of searching I finally found a vanity for my powder room that has all the features that I was looking for. Great design, well built and reasonable price. Will definitely consider when replacing my main bathroom vanity.
