To get the best results from any weed control, be sure to apply the product when your daytime high temperatures are consistently between 65 to 85°F (18 to 29°C). For best results, the nighttime temperatures should be consistently above 50°F (10°C). Since this product is absorbed through the weed's foliage, we recommend that the weeds not be mowed for two days both before and after the product application. This product will only kill weeds that are actively growing at the time of application and cannot prevent new weeds from germinating.
Killex Lawn Weed Control Ready-to-Spray is only guaranteed to kill those weeds listed on the label. If you have any questions as to what the weed is that you are battling in your yard, we recommend that you contact a local reputable nursery to see if they can help you identify the weed before you attempt retreating it with any other product. Once you have had it identified, please let us know what it is, and we can help you find the right product to control it.

Q: Is there an ideal temperature to apply this product? Is it too hot at above 26 deg C? Can it be applied in the early morning on a hot day, even if there is dew on the lawn? Is it more effective if applied in the early evening?

A: I have found the hotter the day the better. The grass must be dry, so it is best applied in the morning after the dew is gone. Try to apply it on a dry hot day in the morning.

Q: Does this product work on buttercup weeds?

A: In the hundreds of times I have used this, I have found that it kills everything except grass. Obviously be careful around wanted shrubs and trees as even over spray can do severe unwanted damage.

Q: If this product doesn’t work for crabgrass, can you recommend a product of yours that does. I have both crabgrass and dandelion in my lawn. I am deathly allergic to dandelions so I have to get rid of all of them.

A: Killex does not control crabgrass. Crabgrass is an annual weed that dies every winter. You may want to get the weed identified so that you get the right product. Please contact us at 866-436-7645 for assistance.

A: Pets such as cats and dogs should be removed from the area before applying Ortho Killex. Once the product has been thoroughly dry pets can re enter the treated area.
