Great concept and App - poor connectivity

I bought this about two years ago and it is ok but loses connectivity constantly. I have used this for cooking Turkey, prime rib and many other cuts. We have a standard oven. With a brand new battery and fully charged, it connects up great until you put it in the oven and close the door. I have to keep the box out of its little house and sitting on the oven door handle but it will still drop signal over and again. God forbid you need to have a cover over the meat or even a Turkey in a paper bag as it will lose connection easily.

What you described (solid connection until the oven door is closed, then dropouts, especially when the food is covered or bagged) is something that happens in some setups. A closed metal oven can significantly reduce the signal (sometimes described as a “Faraday cage”). I just bought it. It took awhile to estimate the time. So if its a quick cook that feature wouldn't be the most helpful. Also I was just I side the house by about 10 ft and lost signal several times. So that was extremely annoying. Will try once more before the 30 days to see if its just a problem this one time or not.

Hello there, Tracy, thanks for the notes. A couple of quick pointers: - Estimated Cook Time builds from the first few minutes of temperature data. On fast cooks (thin steaks, chops, etc.), it may not lock in early enough to be useful. For those, target-temp alerts tend to work better; the ETA shines on longer roasts where it has time to learn the trend. - Range: the probe uses Bluetooth, and metal lids and house walls can cut that range fast. Even 10 ft through a wall can cause drops. Keeping your phone closer to the grill helps. If you’re using MEATER Plus, placing the wooden charger outside the grill (not inside the metal cavity) improves signal. If you want more freedom around the house, MEATER Link extends range through WiFi using a spare device as a bridge. Good but poor range

I got this as a gift and I like the app and how it works but the range is not good. I was probably about 15 feet away from it inside and it kept disconnecting so I thought it might be the battery but after I changed it still disconnecting. If thw range was better def 5 star

Good day, Manicus. Thanks for your honest review. It’s great to hear you enjoy the app, but a 15-ft dropout definitely isn’t the experience you should have. Metal ovens and closed lids can block Bluetooth heavily, so even short distances can cause disconnects. Making sure the probe is fully seated and clean in the charger, and confirming the app and firmware are updated, can noticeably improve range.
