A Nice Yard Ornament

We bought it after a similar lantern in the front yard was broken. It's a reasonably priced product in the market with decent quality. It would be nicer if 3 lock washers to tightern the cap nuts were included.

Good looking lamp post for end of driveway.

Easy to assemble. Did not come with anchors to mount in a concrete base as described in instructions to mount the base. Luckily I had some construction experience and got the base mounted firmly and then attached the rest of the light. Nice and bright at night. If you are not a do it yourself person you could be in for a challenge.

Q: Is there a light sensor so it turns on and off by itself?

  • A: No there isn’t a switch like that. You could have it wired into a switch that does that I suppose but I had a switch installed in the house to turn off and on.

Q: How difficult is it to change the light bulbs, particularly over time? I ask this as the one we are replacing has posed difficulties over the years.

  • A: Change bulbs are simple. Use a Philips screwdriver to remove 2 (two) screws from top. Lift off, replace bulbs and sit top back and screw in 2 screws. That simple

Q: How do I install this in the ground ? Is there something that goes in the ground like a base ?

2 Answers
  • A: You need to install a base. You can use a 10 or 12 inch "Sonotube" (cardboard cylinder)18 to 24 inches long or frame one out of wood. Fill with concrete inserting the three anchor bolts using the template provided.

Q: can I get the pdf file to assemble before I buy it ??? I need to see how the parts go together first

2 Answers
  • A: You don’t need one. I put this together myself on a cooking hot day under duress while my electrical contractor was updating my outside electrical (when I removed my old one one of the lamps fell off, not this brand it was 20 years old) so I jumped in my car and got two of these from CT. Easy to put together. A bit fussy on the lamps with screws that are a bit awkward reach-wise but doable. Google the sku and see if the install instructions are available somewhere. They were put together and installed the same afternoon at my house.

Q: How does it mount to the ground? Just as the question states. I was wondering how do you mount it to the ground? I had planned to put one on each side of my driveway where the grass is, how would I go about doing so?

  • A: you need to dig a hole and put in a sonotube and bury it 3 feet deep and fill with cement. I see you are from BC so you might not have to go so deep.
