Lack of Assembly Instructions & Inaccurate Information on Box

I recently purchased a Noma 42 inch Ceiling Fan , Contemporary Style. On the outside of box it states this unit is " Dimmable "..not totally correct . In the manual , page 9 it states in section operation , heading " Dimmer " this feature is only available for tungsten blub ...The wattage of this type of bulb must be below 70 W or unit will automatically turn off. The bulb provided is a LED 11W , non dimmable. Light provided by this bulb is low & leaves corners of room in shadows. Secondly , this remote does not control the directional turn of fan. There is a switch on the unit which must be manually adjusted. This requires a ladder if you are short or climbing onto bed to switch for Summer & Winter uses. Other fans produced by Noma have this feature built into remote. So watch for this feature in other units. Thirdly , page 3 of manual is the " Exploded View " of this unit. This is the only page " dedicated " to assembly of fan. You are given the task of disassembling the Canopy from Switch housing & then reassembling Switch housing. As a result of this procedure you are left with three holes in the base of the Canopy....These holes are on the bottom side and visible once installed . A set of three plugs to fill these holes would improve appearance. I chose to install black bolts to fill in holes for appearance . Fourthly, again page 3 is your only page of assembly instructions on how to feed support wires up thru " Downrod " . There are " None " ! I resorted to a coat hanger wire to pull the support wire up past the cross support inside the top of the Downrod. When You secure the bottom of the downrod to Switch housing you are supplied with a wire pin which you spread after passing the retainer bolt thru housing & Downrod. Poor visual presentation. Also two bolts at base for alignment but again no instruction to degree of tightness ? Lastly , the manual advertises 1 year warranty , however Canadian Tire specifications indicates 10 years ? In conclusion, once this unit was installed it operates quietly & provides air movement. I spoke at length to Noma rep & he made note of my observations & recommendations .

No, I do not recommend this product.

Quiet & all functions on remote

Chose this model for the style and reviews. Installation is straightforward and all about what your ceiling electrical is like. The mounting bracket is larger in diameter than a standard electrical ceiling box so in my case tightened up nicely against the drywall. 8’ ceiling over a bed we chose the compressed installation removing the downrod. Didn’t need the included balancing weights. As others pointed out two connections to make: house wiring to the controller, then the controller to the fan/light wiring. Fan shroud easily houses this if you can’t get any in the ceiling box. Bulb and a remote battery included. As some noted the 60W Type B bulb appears equal to a 40W standard. She loves it! Very satisfied.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Attractive and Effective

Recently installed a 42" model. Installation is straightforward and there are many how-to videos on Youtube that are helpful. Note that you wire from the ceiling to the remote receiver (included) and then from the receiver to the fan motor and light. This means there are a lot of wires in a small space and you have to be careful. The unit came with a bulb and a battery for the remote. The fan makes a very slight whirring sound and pushes quite a bit of air. It has 3 speeds and is reversible. The light is bright and adjustable and the fan looks good in operation and when not in use. Overall, very satisfied.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Better Then Expected

Installation was a snap. Remote worked and continues to work perfect. Very easy to put together, had no issues installing the blades. Fan is very quiet, and on low only a small amount of air is moved. Enjoyable to use while sleeping.

Yes, I recommend this product.
