Nice multi-coloured thin rope lights. I used Noma suction cups to attach them to my windows. Easy as pie, and the batteries lasted the entire holiday season. 6 hour on time with 18 hours off timer with the option to just turn them on is a nice idea.

Q: This product has no IP rating at all it seems. Is the battery box waterproof? Can I velcro it to my balcony and be confident it won't get wet?

A: The battery box is rated for outdoor use. Close the battery box cover and lock the plastic clips. Keep it above ground away from pooling water. Velcroed to a balcony should be effective. If water does collect in the battery compartment, allow the interior to dry completely and clean the contacts. Use a towel to dry and then air dry the battery box indoors overnight.
