Q: Shower pan, 2"x2" "V" crack depressed 1/4" should I fill that depression first with resin mix before, dry and the proceed with full repair. Can I double up the repair for extra strength ? marine fibreglass repair kit

A: If the crack is small and the floor is stable, then skim a coat of Body Filler (479372 or 479375) over the area and sand smooth. If the crack is larger, secure the area with fiberglass mesh and resin (479313). Allow to cure and sand smooth (60 grit). Add a skim coat of Body Filler and sand smooth. Re-fill if necessary with more Body Filler and sand area smooth. Ready for paint.

A: The 47-9313 kit is based on polyester resin, non-reinforced. You may want to try a reinforced lightweight body filler to provide some reinforcement and a smooth sandable finish. This is 47-9375 269g kit for small areas or 47-9301 (quart) & 47-9302 (gallon) for larger applications. For heavy-duty, high stress repairs you may try 47-9373 Long Strand Fibreglass Reinforced body filler.
