Questions
Q: 028-0253-4 lists SAE J2360 as one of its approvl specs. None of the containers in the stores have the spec on it. Is it SAE J2360 approved or not ? If it is, why is it not on the containers. Actually the military spec on the container also looks very old

11 years agoA: This is an API GL-5, MT-1 axle oil; it does not have limited slip capability. For limited slip applications, addition of limited slip friction modifier is required.

Q: Is this oil safe with brass components? The specs for my transmission and diffs says '90EP' and 'Castrol Hypoy' oil. There are brass components inside parts of the trans. Is this oil safe to use and is more or less the modern equivalent of EP 90? Thank you.
12 years agoA: This oil is NOT recommended for brass components. You may be better suited by the Castrol Hypoy 80W90 SKU that can be specially ordered to your Canadian Tire store or bought at PartSource. The SKU number is 0280209.

Q: Is there an expiration date on Motomaster gear lube? I still have almost a full pail from about 10-12 years ago is it still good? THANKS
15 years agoA: Gear lube doesn’t expire but it should be well mixed with a stir stick before using if it has sat around for that long. You should also check that it still meets the manufacturer’s specifications if you are using it on a piece of equipment that was made after that gear oil was purchased.
