Questions
Q: part # 027 1058-6, AGM battery. Instructions for maintainance say NOT to use auto shut-off or tender type charger for prolonged periods. Why is this? That is what they are supposed to be used for (ie;plug in and forget)
6 years agoA: "Best" is subjective. Each battery charger manufacturer can make a case why their approach is the best approach - from keeping a battery at peak charge, to preventing sulphation, to ensuring the charger can overcome parasitic load, to cycling the battery to keep it "exercised." What we can tell you is that brands like MotoMaster, NOCO and Battery Tender are reputable and whichever philosophy they describe to, certainly they have a good history of maintaining batteries. We cannot speak to other lesser-known brands/manufacturers as we have no experience with them.
