Useless when needed in an emergency
Incentivized Review

I bought this product in 2020, exchanged it for a new one within 12 months because it was defective and would not hold charge. The replacement worked once to boost my vehicle but didn't work the second time when I needed it in an emergency and now cannot be recharged, unfortunately outside the manufacturer's warranty. Do not buy this, get a different brand.

Very good for small and mid-sized cars. It had no trouble with my 1.8L Corolla or my 3L Legacy but couldn't boost my Infiniti 3.5L V6 nor my 3.9L V6 Montana van in cold weather. I needed 1200 for those.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Won’t hold charge anymore☹️☹️☹️

I used this to inflate a bicycle tire that went flat three times and now the unit won’t hold charge, it’ll take about 24 hours to charge and than once fully charged the battery will drain on its own within couple of hours…Word of advice: get a different brand and buy the extended battery as my unit is already about three years old.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Decent little jump starter

It's a really handy little unit. Used it to jump start my car and it did the job quite well. Comes with an inbuilt light which is very convenient if you need to use this at night. Haven't used the tire inflator tool on it yet. The one draw back I can think of is the unit charges using a micro usb which can be a bit slow to charge.

A: To be clear, 12.4V is fully charged. We will be updating the graphic in the manual going forward. Thank you for pointing out that error!

Q: How long does it take to fully charge

A: Also, charge time depends on level of discharge, of course, and the output of your USB. A 2.1A USB will charge twice as fast as a 1.0A USB.

Q: There are quite a few negative reviews of this product. Has there been any updates or new models of this combo with the lithium ion battery from Motomaster?

A: When it comes to jump-starting a vehicle (either with lithium or lead-acid model), several different situations and factors can make jump-starting a vehicle relatively easy, and others that make it much, much tougher. The key ones include (in no particular order):
- State of charge of the jump starter. Clearly, you stand a much better chance of success if the jump starter is fully charged than if it is only partially charged.
- Engine Size. A 4 cylinder gas engine is much easier to 'turn over' than a diesel V8, for example.
- Temperature. This can impact in two ways. First, we live in Canada so we all know it's much harder to 'turn over' an engine in cold temps than it is in warm temps - engine oil is 'thicker' in cold temps while batteries generate way less power. Second, in exactly the same way that cold temps affect your car's battery, they also affect the battery in a jump starter. If stored in cold temps (like inside your car) it will deliver less of it's rated power than if, for example, you had just pulled it out of your house.
- The "deadness" of your battery. There are really two different types of dead batteries - "discharged dead" and "broken, time to replace me dead." A battery that's merely discharged (like after having left your lights on) is still otherwise healthy. The jump starter only needs to provide some assistance. When a battery is "broken, time to replace me dead" you're asking the jump starter to do ALL the work (keep in mind that the battery in any jump starter is much smaller than the full-size battery your car relies to start on every day).
For all the same reasons, it might be able to boost your car 10+ times on a single charge, but in tougher conditions maybe only 1 or 2 times. All that to say, again, there are easier situations and tougher situations. This MotoMaster Eliminator Jump Starter will work for you in most situations, but if several of the abovementioned factors are stacked against you, it might not. When it comes to jump starters, bigger is better. If you are only interested in lithium battery technology, we encourage you to also take a look at some of our other lithium models in our assortment, such as the MotoMaster Eliminator 1500A Lithium-Ion Booster Pack (model number 011-1905).

A: Hi there, the MotoMaster Universal Booster Pack AC/DC Charger (011-1599) is not compatible with the MotoMaster Eliminator 5-in-1 1000A Jump Starter. This jump starter is equipped with a Micro USB charging port.

Q: When I connect the unit to USB to charge it, once it gets to 12.2 Volts, all 4 bars are on, which should indicate full charge. When I unplug the USB charger, I'm left with only 3 bars. So does that mean that I have to wait until I get 14.4 Volts?

A: Hi there, for a fully charged status of this jump starter, the display should show 12.4V for this lithium cell, though this can vary slightly depending on temperature.

Q: It's there a way to do a reset. I have the connection symbols alternate flashing with the caution symbol.
1 Answer
A: Hello, if the connection symbol and caution symbol are flickering, the error associated with this is a sequence error. The battery clamps are connected before the unit is powered on. The procedure should be to firmly insert the clamps into the boosting clamps connection port, press the power button to turn the unit on. Then connect the red clamp to the Positive terminal (+), followed by connecting the black clamp to the Negative terminal (-).

Q: Hi, the caution indicator turned on, i followed the steps (1-4) in the manual to remove it but that didn't work. How do i remove the caution indicator from the display screen?
1 Answer
A: If the Caution icon does not turn off on it's own, it is indicating that the internal battery has been permanently damaged. Possible causes of damage to the lithium battery are excessive heat (which can occur if stored in an extremely hot environment such as inside your car on a hot summer day, or from excessive cranking without allowing the unit to cool down between attempts) or from charging the unit is sub-zero temperature. Discontinue use of the product immediately. For additional troubleshooting assistance call 1-877-466-8191.
