Purchased several weeks ago to primarily use with a portable dvd player while on road trips since the battery pack has bit the dust. The inverter worked perfect. Loved having the replacement fuse, it came in handy.

These units are garbage. Ive had to return 3 200W units and 1 400W unit because they wouldnt power on. I work with similar units in the past with no problems but since they redesigned them they are useless.

Just drove from Winnipeg to Toronto & it worked GREAT for the laptop! HOURS and hours of DVD's played, and it charged the whole time! Don't know what the other guy did, but ours works great. $40 to keep the kids occupied for a 20+ hour drive was WELL worth it - even better to buy it on sale! Shows the output with on/off button! GREAT PURCHASE!

Q: I purchased a Eliminator 200w inverter a couple of years ago and it runs fine but the fan doesn't run when the unit is turned on. I recently purchased another unit the same as the first one but the cooling fan runs as soon as the unit is turned on even without a load!! Could you please explain why the difference? Thanks Bob

A: This product has been improved over the years. The fan is activated only when 1) with a load, and drawing the significant power from the inverter or 2) ambient temperature exceeds the internal operation temperature of inverter. The design from a few years ago, the fan ran turned on right away.

Q: Does the unit have automatic incorrect polarity protection in case you hook the terminals up to the wrong ones on the battery ?

A: This inverter does not have the automatic incorrect polarity protection. If there appears to be reverse polarity, the battery will be fine but the internal fuse of inverter may react, and will not be able to be used. A: In general a blow dryer or curling iron use well over 200w of power to operate. Please check the power consumption of your hair dryer and curling iron, if they are less then 200w, then this inverter can provide enough power. If they are more than 200w, you will need an inverter that matches or exceeds the amount of power they require. For example if the hair dryer requires 900w then you would need a 1000w inverter.
