Works well to keep plants hydrated but does take a lots of water and checking the soil to ensure water getting down to roots as takes more water than you realize to saturate fully

Q: Thinking of purchasing a bag of the this Potting Mix. When I read the reviews about the bags being infested with gnats it really scared me. How would I know if the bags are infected. I would certainly like to open the bags before bring them inside.

A: Insects could not survive the composting and packing process. However, it is possible for them to enter the bag during shipping and storage. Insect may also come in with soil of transplanted plant or enter through cracks, crevices, open windows or doors simply looking for suitable environment.

Q: Would this be suitable for a self irrigated planter box used to grow vegetables outside? If not is there a better suited product?

A: No I would not recommend this for self irrigation medium. I would use the miracle grow without moisture control. Good luck

A: Miracle-Gro Moisture Control Potting Mix consists of the following ingredients: Peat moss, compost (the compost may contain animal manures, composted leaves, grass clippings, and/or composted bark). Perlite, composted hulls of coconuts to help absorb more water than regular potting soil. This is the Aqua Coir (pronounced "core")component of the soil. Osmocote- fertilizer that look like small clear fluid-filled balls.
