Dries very fast- too fast!

Colour is okay but this stuff dries way faster than other brands,which can pose big issues. Anyone considering should cover only small areas before going back in to remove excess. If you wait too long, you’ll need to apply more stain or mineral spirits to move the stain around and even it out. I’m staining a 24” x 48” oak chest- applied a layer to the top but by the time I finished applied the well mixed first coat, the covered area had already dried.

Thank you for your review of the Gel Stain. We recommend to apply and then wipe off the excess stain after 3 minutes when used on wood. You are correct that if you leave the stain on the surface longer it will be difficult to remove the excess.
