Disappointed with Midea 35 pint dehumidifier

Malfunctioning humidity sensor, stuck on 30% .Returning for another unit.

Useless as "defective" code shows when plugged in.

Impossible to use tankless use, as putting 50 lb top into tank BREAKS any drain hose attached.
Needs a CUTOUT in tank to allow tankless use.
EXTREMELY heavy and unsuitable for seniors.

Extremely heavy

Not a great design unless you are very strong. You have to lift the main unit off the water reservoir in order to empty the water. When I set it up, I realized that if we didn’t lit the unit straight off and up high there was a very real risk of dumping water all over the place.
I returned it.
This would be a good unit if you plan to just use the hose to drain rather than the reservoir to collect.

Modern, effective, and worth the price

I bought this dehumidifier on sale at Canadian Tire and chose it for the price and modern look—it doesn’t look bulky or out of place. While it’s labeled “portable,” it is quite heavy. As a 70-year-old with arthritic hands, I wouldn’t call it lightweight, but the sturdy handles made it manageable to carry indoors.
I use it in a south-facing glass sunroom where winter condensation was a big problem. This unit handles the moisture far better than my old dehumidifier and has significantly reduced condensation on the glass and metal framing.
The controls look complicated at first, but the QR code video made setup easy. It is easily programmable to turn on & off automatically based on a schedule and/or the level of humidity sensor. I haven't figured out how to connect it to my Google home app yet, but the Midea Home app is excellent—I can monitor humidity and turn it on and off remotely anywhere there is cell phone service.
Because I’m so impressed, I’ve ordered a second unit for my basement while they are still on sale.

A: Hi, SLianne. Thanks for your question regarding the Midea 35-Pint Cube Dehumidifier. The entire model will be like the one in the stacked photo. The smaller cube you're seeing is just the unit when it's in the nested shipping/storage position. You'll need to rotate the dehumidifier 90° and align the arrows on the two labels (one on the bucket and one on the dehumidifier) and carefully sit the dehumidifier down onto the bucket/tank. Q: Is there some trick getting the filters out without using a thin tool to help lift them at bit to get them started ? I use a thin guitar pick but without it I can't get them out.

Q: How do I setup drain from hose while stacked on base?

A: I believe you only use the hose when it’s not on the base. I use the hose and have the unit sitting beside a basement sink but you could also have the hose drain into a floor drain. I haven’t been using the base.
