We bought this about a month ago and just used it , the butter thing is not that good and we had a lot of kernels that did not pop. I get the convenience of just using a microwave but al in all the air popper we have had for over 10 years works a lot better. Just my opinion though.

Q: Does this maker require special corn kernels to prevent it from exploding into flame or burning to a blackend blob like the Nordicware Quick Pop Single Serve Popcorn Popper, BPA Free, Microwave Safe #142-6182-2 seems to do?

A: Hello, This Microware Popcorn maker does not require special kernels - just fresh kernels. Old kernels can get dried out and not pop as well. Simply follow the instructions provided with the product, have the right setting on the microwave, and avoid having a build-up of grease and food particles inside.
