    Did not last very long.

Charger stopped charging after about 18 months. Canadian Tire warranty is only 12 months. Tried the Maximum phone # but could not understand the instructions. Tried e-mail but it keeps reverting to Canadian Tire. When it was working it did charge as expected but I now have a drill and impact wrench that I can`t use. Hopefully somebody from Maximum will e- mail me with instructions on how to go about a replacement.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Maximum 20 V charger. When i put on a dead battery it immediately shows 3 solid lights indicating its charged. I have tried different batters/cords/plugin etc. Any thoughts?

    1 Answer
    • A: Step 1 will be to check if it is the charger that might be defective. Remove any mounted battery and unplug the charger for several seconds. Without a battery mounted to the charger plug it back into the power. The charger will run a self-diagnostic. If all is okay the lights will simultaneously flash on and then off together once. This indicates the charger is okay. If it does not behalf in this way it is defective. If it is okay, next seat a battery to the charger. Make sure the battery is fully seated onto the charger, i.e., you should hear a click that the battery is fully seated. After several seconds, again the charger is doing a diagnostic but this time of the battery, the charging lights will flash on one by one until all three are lit and then repeat. As it continues to repeat this indicates the battery is charging normally. If the charger lights instead come on solid three lights and remain on this indicates the battery is defective. If defective, please refer to the warranty posted on the canadiantire.ca website page for the item to determine next steps for replacement or repair.

Q: Does the Maximum Multi-volt charger work for my 18volt Maximum battery on my Mastercraft 18volt drill?   Don’t wanna buy unless it is compatible of course, thanks

    1 Answer
    • A: The Maximum charger will not charge the batteries intended for Mastercraft power tools. There may be some confusion as many power tools use the word 'maximum' to identify the max voltage. However, 'Maximum' is a brand name and should not be confused with the reference to voltage.

Q: Can I charge an 18volt maximum battery with the 20volt maximum charger?  I can’t seem to find a Maximum 18 volt charger for that strength of battery that is on my drill,  thanks

    1 Answer
    • A: No, the Maximum charger will not charge 18V batteries for other brands. The 'Maximum' charger will only charge 'Maximum' batteries.

Q: Will this charger work on 20v 1.5ah batteries?

    1 Answer
    • A: Each brand of battery must be charged on a charger of the same brand. One brand of charger will not recognize the battery of another brand and will not charge. Other brands may also not be able to be mounted to the charger.

Q: Any Future possibilities of a "dual port" battery charger? Having multiple tools, I have quite the amount of batteries around or being used. A charger that can recharge 2 batteries would be ideal for a new product.

    1 Answer
    • A: You raise a good point. There are many new Maximum products under development. Unfortunately, a dual port charger is not part of the current new product planning phase. Your suggestion will be taken under consideration for future, new product planning phases.
