Very disappointed

Will never purchase anymore big ticket items from CTC Bought this machine on sale 4-5 years ago for its stick and infinite amp control, Use my Lincoln 180 mig for most welding.Has maybe 2 to3 hours use and it did work great up until it started rattling and made a bang it died.No warranty being past the 3 years (understandable) so I opened it up and found the heatsink PCB cooked got in touch with CT customer service they were very helpful but part I needed out of stock and was no longer available as machine was discontinued by manufacturer (HuGong welders Shanghai).Lesson learned after a lot of research only buy known name brand welders, inverters can be problematic as I found out the hard way and I am out $700+ dollars.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Great machine

My son has had a mastercraft inverter 180 mig for over 3 yrs. This thing has been worked beyond its duty cycle many times as he didnt realize the duty cycle is based on 10 minutes NOT an hour. He and his friends have been building derby cars and tons of other projects. I am a trained welder repair technician snd have been VERY impressed with this machine. 2 of his friends bought them before they were discontinued and we would all highly recommend them for any garage.

I Am a Journeyman Welder with 10 years in the field this welder works great very good bang for your buck does everything I need it to do. I am disappointed with all the non-canadian consumables and a tig function would have been nice wouldn't have been a big jump Considering it does SMAW. The machine is solid.

I took a bit of a chance on this being not a Main brand Welder, but with pretty good exp with other Maximum products and having a great warranty I picked it up. It welds very nicely on MIG, I've been welding a lot of 1/4 and 1/2 plate steel and it lays down a really nice bead, (I'm only an Amatuer and used a flux/core welder for years before this, what a difference 220v and shielding gas makes) the unit is quality construction, lots of options to add a spool gun, comes with Stick welder, has a high duty cycle, I've been really happy with it so far, as good as any main stream welder I think, but with the high duty cycle of an inverter welder, recommended.

Very versatile machine

This unit works just as well, if not better than the Lincoln it replaced. Welds just as clean and has no problems moving up to thicker steel plate. It also comes with a regulator, flux core wire and sticks which is a bonus. All you need is a tank if you want to weld using shielding gas.

A: The Lincoln spool gun for the MIGPAK 180 works just fine with this welder. It'll just burn 3/16"-3/16" with .030 wire.

Q: what is the duty cycle rating on this welder?

A: I think we're looking for duty cycle ratings with amps. The Mig/Stick 140 manual states the duty cycle more clearly at 30% and 100%. Those figures are absent in the Mig/Stick 180 manual. This is the duty cycle I've discovered from other similarly built 180A inverter machines: 15% @135A. 30% @120A. 100% @80A. It follows the same curve on a graph as the Maximum 140A MIg/Stick inverter machine: 15% @105A. 30% @90A. 100% @49A.

Q: Is a knurled drive roller wheel available for flux-core wire like on most other MIG welders?

A: A knruled drive roller wheel is ok to use for flux-core. However, this SKU does not come with knurled drive roller wheel.

A: There are two wires come with this welder, 0.030” 0.5Kg MIG (solid) wire and 0.030” 0.45Kg flux core wire. Please see images below:

A: For Lincoln 180 (SKU#058-8041), it is transformer machine, but 058-9306 is inverter machine. Inverter machine is a new technology product that typically have higher outputs than transformer based welders. Also, 058-9306 has more functions than Lincoln 180, it has MIG, Stick and TIG function. But 058-8041 only has MIG function. However, Lincoln also carries a spool gun upgrade that would allow you to weld aluminum with the Lincoln 180.
